All American Husky Danny Shelton visits his alma mater AHS

Danny Shelton, who graduated from AHS in 2011 and played varsity football for the University of Washington returned to give a speech in the school gym on Friday, December 12. Shelton was named an Academic All-American and according to the University of Washington football page has earned many honors, some for the first time in the programs history. The football page (http://www.gohuskies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=208062113) states that Shelton is “The first Husky football player to earn Academic All-America first-team honors since 1991 … the only player in the nation named first-team All-America first-team Academic All-America in 2015 … earned first-team All-America from USA Today and SB Nation and second-team from Walter Camp and CBS Sports … named a Midseason All-America by ESPN, NFL.com and The Sporting News … also made Phil Steele’s Midseason All-America second team … led the nation (by himself) in fumble recoveries, with five … also ranks No. 14 in tackles for loss with 16.5 and No. 19 in sacks with 9.0 … started all 13 games at nose tackle … named a first-team preseason All-America by The Sporting News … also named third-team preseason All-America by Athlon.”
