The Auburn School District will be adding a new elementary school in 2020 and another one in 2021 according to Auburn’s homepage. This is going to be the 15th elementary school in the Auburn School District that will be ready the year of 2020 and it will be located at Kersey Way and 57th Street. Due to these changes, there will be new bell schedules for all schools. This will positively impact us because it will increase the availability of drivers for field trips and for the extended day programs for students. However, on the other side, this can negatively impact younger students because with these new elementary schools opening they could be closer to their house and parents might want to start transferring students because of the shorter distance. The change was not that big as it was only increased by 5 minutes to both start time and end time. All middle schools will also now be aligned to the same start and end times. Next school year, 2019-2020 and forward; The new start time for all the Auburn High School’s will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m.
