Detective Pikachu was an amazing movie with realistic graphics and believable interactions. The movie is focused around Tim Goodman. After Tim’s father and his father’s Pokemon partner, Pikachu, are pronounced dead after a mysterious car crash, Tim goes to his father’s apartment to clean things up. There he finds his father’s Pokemon partner, and oddly enough, Tim can understand him. Pikachu has no memory of who he is or what happened, but has a strong feeling that Tim’s father is still alive. They team up with a reporter who has a personal investigation into a chemical that might be associated with the crash. The rest of the movie follows the trio as they investigate and outrun Pokemon and humans.

I give the movie 5/5 stars. The amount of small details that they added into the movie was amazing. I watched this movie twice and the second time around I noticed a lot more. If you’re new to Pokemon or grew up with it, you will love this movie. Ryan Reynolds does a good job voicing Pikachu. Many people were expecting him to act like Deadpool, which they weren’t happy about. Many people forget that Ryan Reynolds isn’t just Deadpool, He’s an actor, and he fits his role in this movie. The plot was clever and easy to follow. The story took twists and turns that kept you interested, scared, and laughing all at the same time.

Jenifer Keltto spoke up after she saw the 3D version:

“If you’re afraid of heights, don’t watch it in 3D. Trust me, I learned the hard way.”
