Sunday April 24 was the day I had been waiting for since June last year. After almost a year with unanswered question and frustration HBO’s award winning hit series “Game of Thrones” returned to television for another season of drama, action, and adventure. I forced my family away from our TV and shushed them all as I sat with snacks, fully prepared to re-emerge myself in the world of Westeros. However, the first episode of the sixth season wasn’t exactly a nail biter but first episodes rarely are. It felt like I was having to go back and refresh on characters because frankly, there’s so many to keep track of. Episode one, AKA ‘The Red Woman’ acted as a buffer episode for myself, it started where season five ended and important questions were finally answered. The first episode was a moment for fans to freshen up and prepare for the sixth season of trial, emotions and most likely the deaths of favorite characters. Overall the episode left me excited for more. As the season progressed throughout these past weeks, I am so ecstatic to see the return of characters that have not been seen in three seasons, and what will come of the Winterfell and The North. Shout out to creators David Benioff and D.B. Wiess for generating such a vivid and engaging show, it is truly a wonderful world that makes ordinary life seem pretty spectacular compared to the dismal and dangerous lives the people of Westeros live every day.
